Military still identifying executed Ukrainian soldier - Maliar
Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar made the statement during a press conference at the Military Media Center, Ukrinform reports.
Maliar stated, "All cases and videos that appear in the public domain are being investigated, and this is being done by all law enforcement agencies together, who have the technical capabilities and relevant specialists and experts."
She emphasized that this is an issue for the entire state, "Therefore, we are currently working to identify all those involved to prevent the situation where people assume one person was killed and then it turns out that it was another. We have called for refraining from these public assumptions until the experts determine who the victim is."
As reported, Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets called on the UN and International Committee of the Red Cross to hold the Russian Federation accountable after a video of a Ukrainian prisoner being beheaded appeared online.
The Security Service of Ukraine has launched a pre-trial investigation into the gruesome video. SBU Head Vasyl Malyuk assured that these Russian Inhumans will be identified and prosecuted.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to immediately pay attention to the execution of a Ukrainian prisoner by the Russian military in the context of the investigation of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
