Ukraine Army spox explains purpose of Russia’s latest drone attack on Odesa

The attack by the Shahed kamikaze UAVs on Odesa overnight Wednesday was aimed at locating and destroying air defense systems deployed in the area.
That’s according to Natalia Humeniuk, chief of the press center of the South Operational Command, Ukrinform reports.
"They were flying trying to avoid detection, exploiting landscape peculiarities. They still try to deceive our anti-aircraft defenses and locate the launchers. That is why, we suspect, there was such a mass attack with several measures taken to provoke the systems to expose themselves," said the head of the press center.
She noted that the Russians attacked from the Sea of Azov.
As Ukrinform reported, on the night of April 19, Russian Shahed 136/131 kamikaze drones, supplied from Iran, attacked Odesa. Ukrainian defenders downed 10 out of 12 incoming UAVs.
