U.S. preparing to announce new military assistance package for Ukraine - White House
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said this at a press briefing in Washington on Wednesday, April 19, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"Later today, the Biden-Harris administration will announce a new security assistance package for Ukraine as part of our ongoing efforts to help Ukraine defend itself against Russia's brutal invasion," she said.
Jean-Pierre noted that relevant announcements would come from the U.S. Department of State and Department of Defense. The package will include more ammunition for U.S.-provided HIMARS systems and anti-armor systems, as well as additional artillery rounds.
"The United States will continue to work with our allies and partners to help Ukraine defend itself, to defend its democracy and protect its people," she said.
The 11th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group will be held at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany on April 21. Representatives of about 50 nations are expected to take part in the meeting.
