Polish Minister says place to repair Ukrainian Leopard 2 tanks
The Minister of National Defense of Poland Mariusz Blaszczak said this during the media briefing in Ramstein, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
According to the Polish minister, he convinced his colleagues to establish a repair hub in Gliwice.
"Bumar in Gliwice has 20 years of experience in servicing and repairing Leopard tanks, so the staff there is trained," Blaszczak emphasized.
According to him, the operation of the hub can be financed by creating a special fund. He did not rule out the possibility of attracting EU and NATO funds to finance the tank hub.
As reported, a meeting of the heads of defense ministries of the countries that are members of the so-called tank coalition took place on Friday, April 21, as part of the meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format. As a result, the defense ministers of Ukraine, Germany, and Poland signed a protocol of intent to establish a maintenance and service center for Ukraine's Leopard 2 main battle tanks in Poland.
