Ukrainian forces repel 40 enemy attacks in three sectors – General Staff
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in an update as of 18:00 on Saturday, April 22, Ukrinform reports.
"The enemy is focusing its main efforts on conducting offensive operations in the Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Maryinka directions. About 40 enemy attacks were repelled," the General Staff said.
The Ukrainian Air Force launched eight strikes on the areas where the enemy’s personnel and military equipment were concentrated. Units of the missile forces and artillery struck three Russian military personnel concentration areas and a Russian ammunition depot.
Throughout the day, the Russian invaders launched 3 missile attacks and 24 airstrikes, as well as about 20 attacks using multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS). Russian attacks caused casualties among civilian population, destroyed and damaged private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure.
The General Staff stresses that the threat of Russian missile attacks and airstrikes across the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.
In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, the situation has not changed significantly. Certain units of Russian and Belarusian forces continue to perform tasks in the districts bordering Ukraine.
In the Siverskyi and Slobozhanshchyna sectors, Russian troops shelled Ulanove, Brusky, Stukalivka, Volfyne, Korenivka, and Yunakivka in Sumy region, as well as Tymofiivka in Kharkiv region.
The invaders launched an airstrike on Orlykivka, Chernihiv region.
In the Kupiansk sector, Russian forces used artillery to fire at Novomlynsk, Zapadne, Masiutivka, Synkivka, Kyslivka, and Berestove in Kharkiv region.
In the Lyman sector, Russian troops did not carry out offensive operations throughout the day, instead, artillery strikes were launched on Makiivka, Nevske, and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region, Dibrova, Verkhniokamianske, and Spirne in Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut area, the invaders continue to conduct offensive operations, fierce fighting for the city of Bakhmut is ongoing. In the vicinity of Hryhorivka, Khromove and Ivanivske, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive operations.
In the Avdiivka sector, the invaders conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in Novokalynove district in Donetsk region. Novokalynove, Stepove, Avdiivka, Tonenke, Pervomaiske and Nevelske in Donetsk region came under Russian strikes.
In the Maryinka sector, the Defense Forces repelled numerous Russian attacks in Mariyinka district, Donetsk region. Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk region came under enemy fire.
In the Shakhtarsk sector, the invaders did not carry out offensive actions. However, they shelled Bohoiavlenka, Vuhledar and Novomayorske in Donetsk region.
In the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia areas, Russian troops continue to defend themselves and launched attacks on populated areas, including Vremivka and Zelene Pole in Donetsk region, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Huliaipilske, Bilohirya, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka and Kamianske in Zaporizhzhia region, Kherson, Sablukivka, Beryslav, Kozatske, Tokarivka, Inhulets, Inzhenerne, Antonivka, Bilozerka, Berehove and Kizomys in Kherson region. In total, more than 30 settlements came under attack.
In the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, the invaders continue to strengthen the counter-intelligence regime. For example, in the city of Enerhodar, Zaporizhzhia region, an increase in the number of patrols has been recorded, personal documents and vehicles are checked more carefully at checkpoints.
The invaders also restricted visits to forest areas. Employees of the Russian Federal Security Service take control over Ukrainian citizens spotted in these places and check their personal data.
As reported by Ukrinform, from February 24, 2022 to April 22, 2023, the Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated about 185,730 Russian military personnel, including 680 soldiers over the past day.
