Civilian dies due to shelling near Kherson

A journalist of a foreign media outlet was injured, and a civilian accompanying him was killed due to hostile shelling of the Antonivskyi Bridge in Kherson region.

That's according to the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, Ukrinform reports.

"According to the investigation, on April 26, Russian troops, once again violating the norms of international humanitarian law, fired on the Antonivsky Bridge area near Kherson. As a result, a civilian man was killed," the statement said.

In addition, a correspondent of a foreign publication sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder. He was working on a story about life in the city, which had been under occupation for a long time and is now subject to systematic shelling by the Russian army.

The correspondent was taken to a hospital where he is receiving medical care.

The necessary investigative actions are currently underway to document another Russian crime.

As for the victim, the regional prosecutor's office informed the agency that he was a citizen of Ukraine.

Under the procedural control of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation was initiated into the violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on April 26, Russians shelled Kherson region again. A foreign journalist was among the wounded.
