Police find 27 filtration camps, prisons in occupied territories
The Deputy Head of the National Police of Ukraine Maksym Tsutskiridze said this during a working visit to the UK, Ukrinform reports citing the press service of the NPU.
"Investigators have documented 52 places of detention, torture chambers, filtration camps established in the temporarily occupied territories and in the Russian Federation: 27 filtration camps and prisons on the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, and seven on the territory of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the atrocities of the occupiers are impressive," Tsutskiridze said.
According to him, investigators have recorded tens of thousands of facts of cruelty of the Russian military against civilians: mass shootings of civilians, including evacuation convoys, torture, sexual violence, etc.
The Deputy Head of the National Police noted that the main task of law enforcement is to bring war criminals to justice.
The National Police informed that during the 4-day visit, at the invitation of the Metropolitan Police War Crimes Unit, Ukrainian law enforcement officers who are directly involved in recording, documenting and investigating war crimes got acquainted with the work of the relevant specialized unit of the UK and shared their experience.
Representatives of the Ukrainian delegation also met with London Police Commissioner Mark Rowley and thanked him for his support of Ukraine.
As reported, National Police investigators have opened 73,495 criminal proceedings over crimes committed on the territory of Ukraine by Russian military personnel and their accomplices.
