Ukrainian defense forces repel 48 enemy attacks in four directions – General Staff

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in a morning update, Ukrinform reports.

"Over the past 24 hours, they carried out 48 attacks on the indicated areas of the front... Bakhmut and Maryinka remain the epicenter of hostilities; our soldiers courageously hold the defense... Over the past day, the Air Force of the Defense Forces launched five airstrikes targeting the areas where the occupiers were concentrated, while units of the missile forces and artillery hit four command posts, an ammunition depot, and four manpower clusters of the enemy,” the report says.

Over the past day, Russia launched another massive missile attack on civilian objects and residential buildings across Ukraine. Civilians were killed and injured. Not having the desired results on the battlefield, the enemy cynically continues to use terror tactics, thereby grossly violating the norms of International Humanitarian Law.

Uman in Cherkasy region, Dnipro, as well as Ukrainka in Kyiv region were affected by Russia’s missile terror. According to preliminary information, more than 20 civilians, including four children were killed. People may be still under the rubble. Search operations are ongoing. More than 10 apartment blocks and other civil infrastructure were damaged. The enemy also launched 36 airstrikes.

Using guided aerial bombs, the Russians attacked Chernihiv region, targeting eight civilian houses in the settlement of Kostobobriv. In addition, the enemy carried out 65 attacks using multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).

"Over the course of the past day, the enemy launched 23 Kh-101 and Kh-555 cruise missiles. Our defenders intercepted 21 cruise missiles, as well as 2 UAVs of operational-tactical level and 2 attack drones... The probability of further missile attacks and airstrikes throughout the territory of Ukraine remains high," the General Staff said.

In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation has not undergone significant change. No signs of enemy offensive groups’ formation were recorded.  

In the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in Russia’s regions bordering Ukraine. Over the past day, the enemy launched airstrikes on the settlements of Semenivka, Leonivka, Kostobobriv, Hremyach, Romashkove; carried out mortar and artillery shelling of Halahanivka, Leonivka, and Buchky in Chernihiv region; Romashkove, Vilna Sloboda, Stukalivka, Iskryskivshchyna, Volfyne and Obody in Sumy region, as well as Morokhovets, Lyptsi, Hatyshche, Volokhivka, Nesterne, Budarky in Kharkiv region.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy did not carry out offensive operations, but actively used unmanned aerial vehicles to adjust artillery fire. The settlements of Krasne Pershe, Novomlynsk, Fyholivka, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Lyman Pershyi, Synkivka, Kyslivka, Berestove in Kharkiv region and Novoselivske in Luhansk region came under enemy artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Lyman direction, Russian forces carried out unsuccessful offensive operations in the Bilohorivka area and south of Dibrova. They launched airstrikes on the settlements of Novoyehorivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka, Torske, Serebrianka, Spirne, Ivanivka. Makiivka, Nevske, Dibrova, Bilohorivka in Luhansk region and Terny, Verkhniokamianske, Spirne in Donetsk region came under artillery shelling.

In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy continues to conduct offensive operations. Battles are ongoing in the city of Bakhmut. In addition, over the past day, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in the area of Bohdanivka and Chasiv Yar. They launched airstrikes on Bakhmut and Bohdanivka. Vasiukivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bakhmut, Khromove, Chasiv Yar, Hryhorivka, Ivanivske, Predtechyne, Kostiantynivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Pivdenne, Nelipivka and New York in Donetsk region came under enemy shelling.

In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive operations in the areas of Avdiivka, Sieverne and Pervomaiske. Russian forces shelled the settlements of Novobakhmutivka, Novokalynove, Avdiivka, Vodiane, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske in Donetsk region.

In the Maryinka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled enemy attacks on Maryinka and Novomykhailivka settlements. However, Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Pobieda and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk region came under enemy fire.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy did not carry out offensive operations over the past day. They launched airstrikes on Vuhledar, Prechystivka and Shakhtarsk in Donetsk region.

In the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia directions, the enemy continues to conduct defensive operations. Meanwhile, they shelled more than 45 settlements near the contact line, including Malynivka, Zatyshshia, Mala Tokmachka, Kamianske, Ivanivka in Zaporizhzhia region; Respublikanets, Tomaryne, Tiahynka, Kherson, Bilozerka and Yantarne in Kherson region. Civilian casualties were reported, as well as damaged residential buildings.

As reported by Ukrinform, from February 24, 2022 to April 28, 2023, the Defense Forces of Ukraine eliminated about 189,460 Russian invaders.
