Russian missile attack on Uman: Search operations completed, two people considered missing
Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko announced this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
He noted that the rescuers worked to the limit of their capabilities to pull people from under the rubble. Heavy equipment and special vehicles were involved.
Police officers and volunteers provided assistance. During the search and rescue operations, 17 people have been saved. "Unfortunately, as a result of the Russian attack, 23 people were killed: 22 were pulled out from under the rubble, one more person died in the hospital. Among those killed were six children: three boys (1.5, 16 and 17 years old) and three girls (8, 11 and 14 years old),” the minister said.
According to Klymenko, all 23 bodies have been identified. A special headquarters worked at the scene, where direct relatives of those killed were able to submit biological samples for DNA comparison.
Nine people were injured in the missile attack. Medics, accompanied by the police, provided immediate hospitalization of the injured.
"All services worked in a coordinated and efficient manner. I’m grateful to the rescuers, police officers, workers of utility services, dozens of Uman residents who participated in removing debris at the collapsed building site," added Klymenko.
As Ukrinform reported, on the morning of April 28, Russian invaders launched another missile attack on cities across Ukraine, hitting residential buildings in Uman, Cherkasy region, Dnipro, Dnipropetrovsk region, and Ukrainka, Kyiv region.
