Russians suffered 100,000 casualties just over fighting in Bakhmut – White House
The relevant statement was made by National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications in the White House John Kirby during an online briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“We estimate that the Russians – based on intelligence and information we’ve gathered – have suffered 100,000 casualties just since December, just over the fighting in Bakhmut,” Kirby said.
In his words, more than 20,000 Russian invaders were killed in action. Half of them were the Wagner Group’s mercenaries who had mostly been recruited by their leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, from among convicts in prisons.
Meanwhile, Kirby did not comment on Ukraine’s losses. In his words, it is the Ukrainian leadership that should speak of this.
A reminder that eastern Ukraine has been remaining the epicenter of hostilities in recent weeks. The fiercest battles are underway for the Donetsk region’s Bakhmut and Marinka.
