Duda: Many indications object found near Bydgoszcz “missile”
This was stated by President Andrzej Duda of Poland, who spoke at a press conference during a visit to Albania, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
According to the Polish leader, at this time there are no final results of the investigation that is being conducted by the Polish prosecutor's office.
"I am waiting for the official results of this probe. There are many indications that it could have been a fallen missile," Duda emphasized.
He emphasized that "there was no explosion, no explosives, and this did not pose a threat to the security of Poland" at the site of the emergency. According to the president, this is "the most important thing".
According to RMF.FM, experts with the Technical Institute of the Polish Air Force have tentatively confirmed that a Russian Kh-55 missile was discovered in a forest near the city of Bydgoszcz in northern Poland at the end of April.
In late April, speaking at a press conference, the Commander Poland Army’s Operational Command, General Tomasz Piotrowski, said the detected object could be connected with "what happened in the airspace on December 16" when Russia carried out yet another massive strike on Ukraine, firing off a total of 76 missiles.
Onet reported as one of the main versions of the investigation the fall of the Kh-55 missile, launched by a Russian warplane from Belarus airspace.
According to media reports, at that time the Polish air defense forces were tracking the object that violated the country's airspace before it disappeared from radars.
