“Several options”- Ukraine’s top security official on upcoming counteroffensive
That’s according to Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, who spoke in an interview with the Report news agency, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"The military has several options for action, and which of them will be employed for a particular operation depends on multiple factors. If someone says they know the area of the operation, they are lying because it will be known only once this is approved by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief," said Danilov.
According to the official, Ukraine’s international partners are informed only about general issues of defense, not specific measures for the liberation of Ukrainian territories.
"We defend our independence and we are aware of our responsibility for liberating our territories from occupation. As for partners, we cooperate with them, and they provide us with a lot of help. When we talk about specific plans, we mean that they are classified, secret, so if someone thinks that plans labeled "Top Secret" are revealed to anyone, then they are mistaken. There is no such thing anywhere in the world. General questions – okay but specific plans - no, they must remain confidential," NSDC secretary explained.
As reported earlier, on May 11, President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine needed “a bit more time” to kick off the long-anticipated counteroffensive against Russia.
