Russian forces launch over 35 attacks on four front sectors – General Staff

Russian forces launched 36 attacks on the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Maryinka sectors, with Bakhmut and Maryinka remaining at the epicenter of hostilities.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in its evening update as of 18:00 on May 12, Ukrinform reports.

According to the General Staff, the Russian army continues to focus its main efforts on the mentioned sectors. In total, throughout the day, the invaders launched four missile attacks and 26 airstrikes, as well as more than 20 attacks using multiple launch rocket systems. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were damaged by enemy fire.

It is stressed that the threat of Russia’s further missile attacks and airstrikes on the entire territory of Ukraine remains high, because the enemy continues to use terror tactics.

Throughout the day, the Ukrainian Air Force launched four airstrikes on the clusters of enemy personnel and military equipment. On their part, units of the Ukrainian missile troops and artillery hit three areas of concentration of the enemy’s manpower, three artillery units in firing positions, as well as one e-warfare system.

In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the situation has not changed significantly. There have been no signs of Russian offensive groups’ formation.

In the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna directions, the enemy continues to maintain a military presence in the districts bordering Ukraine. The invaders used mortars and artillery to shell Volfyne in Sumy region, Chervona Zoria, Veterynarne, Hlyboke, Lyptsi, Starytsia, Ohirtseve, Hatyshche, Vovchansk, Nesterne, and Velykyi Burluk in Kharkiv region.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy launched artillery and mortar attacks on Kamianka, Krasne Pershe, Mytrofanivka, Fyholivka, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Kyslivka and Tabaivka in Kharkiv region and Stelmakhivka in Luhansk region.

In the Lyman direction, Russian troops struck Makiivka and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region, as well as Verkhniokamianske and Spirne in Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, the Russian army continues its assault. Battles for Bakhmut are ongoing. The enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in the area of Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Hryhorivka and Stupochky. The invaders launched airstrikes on the areas of Bakhmut, Bohdanivka, and New York. Fedorivka Druha, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bohdanivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, Pivdenne, Toretsk, Druzhba, Sieverne and New York in Donetsk region came under enemy shelling.

In the Avdiivka direction, Russians used aircraft to attack Avdiivka and Vodiane districts, they shelled Stepove, Avdiivka, Netailove and Pervomaiske in Donetsk region.

In the Marinka direction, units of the Defense Forces repelled numerous enemy attacks in Maryinka area. At the same time, Hostre, Heorhiivka, Maksymilianivka, Marinka, and Pobieda in Donetsk region came under enemy fire.

In the Shakhtarske direction, the Russians did not carry out offensive operations. Instead, they launched airstrikes on Prechystivka and Velyka Novosilka, shelled Paraskoviivka, Kostyantynivka, Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar, Novoukrainka, and Prechystivka.

 In the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia directions, Russian troops continue to conduct defensive operations. The enemy used aircraft to attack the districts of Novopil in Donetsk region, Malynivka and Krasne in Zaporizhzhia region, as well as Kizomys in Kherson region

As reported by Ukrinform, since the full-scale invasion, Russia has already lost about 197,670 troops in Ukraine.
