About 2,500 Russian military personnel stationed in Belarus territory

Andriy Demchenko, Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, said this during the national news telethon.

According to him, there are currently about 2,500 Russian soldiers in the territory of Belarus. "The number of Russian servicemen is significantly lower than it was a few months ago. I will remind you that the number of Russian soldiers could reach 10,000-11,000 people," Demchenko emphasized.

The spokesman said that the Russian military, as a rule, is involved in training or exercises and stays on training grounds. He added that Russia is taking the units that underwent training in Belarus to the territory of its country. Subsequently, these soldiers are sent to the eastern direction to replenish the forces of the invaders.

"Currently, we see that many units are being withdrawn from Belarus but the training grounds are not replenished," Demchenko said.

As reported, according to the General Staff data, no signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups were detected in Volyn and Polissia directions. The Russian Federation continues to use the territory and material and technical base of the Republic of Belarus for training and combat coordination of units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation formed through mobilization. These units are involved further in military operations in the territory of Ukraine.
