Government discusses return of evacuated orphaned children to Ukraine
This was discussed during the meeting of the Coordination Headquarters for the Protection of Children's Rights in the Conditions of Martial Law, as reported by Ukrinform, citing the Ministry of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories.
The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories, Iryna Vereshchuk.
"The participants of the meeting emphasized that when returning children, they should be placed in families rather than institutions, especially if the latter are not equipped with bomb shelters," the statement said.
It was also emphasized that all actions by local administrations regarding the return of children should strictly comply with the legislation and be coordinated with the National Social Service of Ukraine.
Among other things, the headquarters discussed the implementation of the Unified Information and Analytical System "Children" and the activities of international charitable organisations involved in helping children.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, as of April, the Russian Federation illegally detains more than 4,300 orphans from Ukraine on the territory under its control.
