Residents of Mariupol burn Russian flag on the beach
According to Ukrinform, the Mariupol City Council published a respective video on Telegram.
In a caption to the video, the city council wrote: "Mariupol is Ukraine! Residents of the city burned the Russian flag on the beach. With this action, they showed that residents of Mariupol do not want to live under the rule of the occupiers. They want to return to Ukraine! Because this is our Motherland, our common home!"
Earlier reports said that in Mariupol on May 17, residents hung posters with the inscription "Ukrainian Summer" on Budivelnykiv Avenue. On May 10, in the city center, they put up posters with the inscription "August is Close" against the background of a photo of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On May 7, a video circulated on social media in which an unidentified man unfurls the flag of Ukraine in temporarily captured Mariupol and walks with it on the street along high-rise buildings.
In addition, in Mariupol, local residents hung the flag of Ukraine on the building of the Iskra Palace of Culture, which was destroyed by the Russian invaders.
