Zaluzhnyi, Cavoli discuss strengthening air defense capabilities, including due to F-16s

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi and NATO's supreme allied commander and commander of U.S. forces in Europe, General Christopher Cavoli, discussed the strengthening of Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, including due to F-16 fighter jets.

Zaluzhnyi wrote this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"The need to strengthen air defense capabilities, including with the help of F-16 fighter jets, as well as to increase the ammunition amount were the main topics of our dialogue," Zaluzhnyi wrote.

The interlocutors discussed the importance of continuing joint work on maintaining and repairing military equipment.

“I also told about the quantitative and qualitative composition of our army and about the initiative to reinforce Ukrainian marines by creating new brigades. We agreed with General Cavoli to cooperate actively further in order to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities," Zaluzhnyi emphasized.

As Ukrinform reported, in a phone call on May 19, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark A. Milley discussed the performance of Patriot surface-to-air missile systems and the supply of long-range ammunition.
