General Staff updates on Russia’s overnight attack: 36 enemy missiles, 30 Shaheds destroyed
The relevant statement was made by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Last night the enemy used Kh-101/Kh-555 air-launched cruise missiles and Iranian-produced Shahed-136/131 unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs). According to the updated information, the air commands’ forces and units, in cooperation with other air defense components of Ukraine’s Defense Forces, destroyed 36 out of 40 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles and 30 out of 38 Shahed-136/131 UCAVs,” the report states.
On the afternoon of May 29, 2023, Russian invaders fired the Iskander cruise and ballistic missiles at Kyiv-based civil and critical infrastructure objects. Ukraine’s Air Force downed 11 of 11 enemy missiles.
According to the General Staff, the threat of Russian missile and air strikes is persisting all over Ukraine.
In the past 24 hours, Russian troops have launched 53 air strikes and opened fire with multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) about 20 times, namely on the positions of Ukrainian forces and peaceful settlements. Casualties among civilians were reported, as well as the damage caused to detached houses, civil and administrative infrastructure.
