Water "take into ring" occupied Oleshky in Kherson region

The head of the Oleshky Regional Military Administration Tetiana Hasanenko said this in a conversation with an Ukrinform correspondent.

"The water has taken the town of Oleshky, so to say, into a ring," Hasanenko said.

According to her, as of the morning of June 7, Sofiivska, Hvardiiska streets in the city center are partially flooded, while Polova, Myru streets, the ATB area, the SES, the Olympic buildings area, and the police station are not flooded. However, it is difficult to get to dry areas because there is water all around.

Hasanenko confirmed that the self-proclaimed 'authorities' took bedridden patients out of the hospital on June 6. Some seriously ill patients were taken to Kalanchak, Henichesk and Skadovsk. The palliative care patients were taken to the third floor, but the hospital is not flooded.

On the morning of June 7, water flooded Lisna Street, where people had moved to escape the day before. Now, in local chats, people are asking how to get out of there, as many roads are flooded.

"The water has started to rise again. And it's a nightmare, because people are already on the roofs, no one is saving them, no one is filming them. Their phones are running out of power, there is no Russian connection, no electricity," emphasized Hasanenko.

According to her, it is difficult to talk about the full picture of what is happening in the city. People who manage to get in touch with us tell us about what is happening to them in separate sentences. "They write to us: 'We managed to establish contact' - and they indicate the street and a specific house. Now there is no such picture as yesterday when there was communication," explained Hasanenko.

According to her, people were moving to the streets where the water did not reach overnight. Over the night, more than 600 requests were received to evacuate from rooftops and flooded houses. The occupation "authorities" do not come to their aid.

Hasanenko said that on June 6, information appeared in Oleshky that only those who had Russian passports would be evacuated, and then representatives of the occupiers shouted at people to come to the SES building to evacuate. "Firstly, it's uncomfortable, not everyone will come... And, secondly, they did not say where they would evacuate, because if it was to Russia, people did not want to go. That's why they didn't go to them, and in fact, there was no evacuation," the head of the Oleshky RMA said.

At the same time, mines began to surface, with which the Russian military had mined the floodplains and the shore. Hasanenko told the story of a 65-year-old resident of Oleshky who said she was sitting on the second floor of her house, with mines floating around, and warned that no one should come to her because it was dangerous.

As for the villages, the village of Pravi Sahy is completely flooded. According to the latest information, everyone has left there, except for a 70-year-old man.

In the morning, the water level began to rise again in the villages of Pravi Solontsi (water reaches the roofs), Kozachi Lageri. Pishchanivka began to be flooded from the shore and floodplain. As of the evening of June 6, water entered Pidstepne from the direction of Oleshky. Residents of the outermost houses managed to evacuate, while others could not because of the curfew.

As Ukrinform reported, Russian troops blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station on June 6.
