Ukraine thwarts Russian assault attempts in three areas
That’s according to an operational update by the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, Ukrinform reports.
On the Lyman axis, the enemy ran unsuccessful offensive operations in the Vesele area. Airstrikes were reported near Yampolivka, Bilohorivka, Siversk, Zvanivka, Spirne, Vesele, and Nikiforivka in Donetsk region. Makiivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka in Luhansk region, and Verkhnokamianske, Torske, Spirne, and Rozdolivka in Donetsk region were hit by artillery fire.
In the direction of Bakhmut, the enemy carried out offensive moves toward Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Ivanivske, and Severne, without success. Their airstrike hit the area of Dilyivka, Donetsk region. Vasyukivka, Orihovo-Vasylivka, Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Stupochky, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Bila Hora, Toretsk, and Severne in Donetsk region were affected by Russian artillery shelling.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy made an unsuccessful offensive attempt. At the same time, the Russians launched airstrikes targeting the town. Enemy artillery attacked the areas of Berdychi, Stepove, Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, and Karlivka in Donetsk region.
In the Marinka direction, Ukraine’s defenders repelled nine enemy attacks. The Russians launched an airstrike at the Krasnohorivka area. Hostre, Maksimilianivka, Heorhiivka, Marinka, Pobieda, and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk region were hit by artillery fire.
In the direction of Shakhtarske, the enemy carried out airstrikes at the areas of Prechystivka and Shakhtarske. They also shelled the settlements of Vuhledar, Shakhtarske, Zolota Nyva, and Vremivka in Donetsk region.
The Russians remain on the defensive in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions. Airstrikes targeted the areas of Novopil in Donetsk region and Olhivske and Poltavka in Zaporizhzhia region. Russian artillery shelled Burlatske, Novosilka, Novopil, and Temyrivka in Donetsk region; Olhivske, Poltavka, Huliaipole, Charivne, Bilohiria, Novoandriivka, Shcherbaky, Stepove, and Kamianske in Zaporizhzhia region; Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk region; Beryslav, Vesele, Tokarivka, Sadove, and Bilozerka in Kherson region as well as the city of Kherson.
On the Volyn and Polissia axes, the operational situation has not changed significantly.
On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes, the enemy launched an airstrike at Strelcha, Kharkiv region. Their mortars and artillery shelled of the settlements of Halahanivka and Leonivka in Chernihiv region; Novovasylivka, Volfine, Rozhkovychi, Vovkivka, and Yablunivka in Sumy region, as well as Udy, Veterynarne, Hraniv, Morokhovets, Ternova, Starytsia, Vovchansk, Hatyshche, Pokalyan, Budarky, Zemlianka, Zarubinka, Chuhunivka, and Mylove in Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy carried out airstrikes in the area of Kislivka, Kharkiv region, and Stelmakhivka, Luhansk region. Kamianka, Topoli, Krasne Pershe, Petro-Ivanivka, Fiholivka, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Kindrashivka, Kyslivka, Tabaivka, and Berestove in Kharkiv region, and Novoselivske in Luhansk region were subjected to artillery and mortar attacks.
As noted by the General Staff, the occupiers are not concerned about the problems of the locals in the captured territories, who found themselves in the flooding zone. Instead, they block possible evacuation routes and occupy homes of local residents, driving out their owners.
"The Russian Federation does not care about the problems of the local population in the occupied territories, it is capable of any crimes and large-scale destruction. For example, after Russian terrorists blew up the dam of the Kakhovka HPP, the residents of the village of Kozachi Laheri, who found themselves in the flooding zone, did not see help from the occupying so-called ‘authorities’ and tried to leave the partially flooded settlement on their own. However, Russian servicemen, who were intoxicated, blocked all possible ways to leave the city and prohibited evacuation," the report said.
At the same time, as noted, in the city of Hola Prystan, the occupiers drive the owners of two-storey houses out of their homes and seize their houses. The invaders also set up firing positions on the roofs of these buildings.
As reported, from February 24, 2022 to June 7, 2023, Ukraine’s Defense Forces eliminated 212,030 Russian invaders, including 880 in the past day alone.
