In Ukraine, 1,014 children wounded since invasion outset
That’s according to the Prosecutor General's Office, Ukrinform reports.
"As of the morning of June 10, 2023, a total of 1,501 children were affected in Ukraine as a result of the full-scale armed aggression unleashed by the Russian Federation. According to the official report by juvenile prosecutors, 487 children were killed and more than 1,014 were injured," the statement reads.
The report is not final as efforts are underway to verify information coming from the zones of hostilities, temporarily captured and liberated territories.
The largest numbers of affected children were reported in Donetsk region (464), Kharkiv region (283), Kyiv region (128), Kherson region (105), Zaporizhzhia region (91), Mykolaiv region (89), Dnipropetrovsk region (80), Chernihiv region (71), and Luhansk region (67).
On Friday, June 9, during evacuation measures, the Russians shelled Kherson, where a 16-year-old girl was injured.
On the night of June 10, the enemy launched an attack on Odesa region. Two children aged 5 and 17 were injured by the debris falling on a 9-storey residential building in Odesa. A 5-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy were injured in a missile attack in the Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky district of Odesa region.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, citing Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the UN Sergiy Kyslytsya, the UN Security Council identified six gross violations against children amid the armed conflict: recruitment and exploitation of children, murder and maiming, sexual violence, attacks on schools and hospitals, abductions, and blocking of humanitarian access.
