Russians launch drones at night to wear out Ukrainian air defenses - Air Force spox
This was stated by the spokesman for the Air Force Command, Yuriy Ihnat, who spoke in an interview with the Ukrainian Pravda online newspaper, reports Ukrinform.
"We can't get those drones at night using our ground troops' air defense means or mobile fire groups. No matter what searchlights we use... Why do they launch them at night? To wear out air defenses. So that we spend air defense missiles on them. So that they can see where our systems are located and make adjustments for missile strikes launched from warships or planes," he said.
Ihnat emphasized that it is more difficult to shoot down a missile, but a drone is also difficult to detect, and also against a drone, different means should be used, which would be rational to shoot it down.
The Air Force Command spokesman emphasized that Iranian drones are a "headache" for Ukraine's forces and that they are difficult to shoot down.
As reported, on the night of June 11, Ukraine's air defense forces destroyed six Iranian-made Shahed-136/131 one-way attack drones.
