Russians redeploy part of troops to Zaporizhzhia direction after Kakhovka HPP explosion
"There is one and only goal: to disrupt our offensive operation. Given that they could not fully understand our plans, they, in my opinion, secured the left flank. That is, by blowing up the dam, they created a barrier line and thereby prevented our offensive from this side. And they were able to free a certain number of their units in order to redeploy them to Zaporizhzhia direction against our advancing group," First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksandr Pavliuk said during the United News national telethon.
He added that the enemy did not have enough forces and means to stop the Ukrainian troops.
Pavliuk also noted that the death of Russian troops did not stop the Russian army command.
"They never valued the lives of their people, they thought that it would be more effective to do this, and they were not so much interested in how many were killed there or the positions they lost. They committed a terrible crime, did not even warn people in the occupied territory. We cannot even understand the scale of casualties among the people who remained in the occupied territory," Pavliuk said.
According to him, Ukrainian intelligence saw signs of preparations for the crime, but it was impossible to counteract it because the dam was under the complete control of the Russians.
Pavliuk also confirmed that the Russian Federation began to use man-made disasters as a weapon, so the Ukrainian command does not rule out any further criminal actions by Russia.
As reported, Russian troops blew up the Kakhovka HPP dam on the night of June 6. The plant cannot be restored. In Kherson region, rescue and evacuation operations of the people from flooded areas are ongoing. The situation is especially difficult in the temporarily occupied territories where the invaders left people without any help.
As of the morning of June 12, 46 cities, towns and villages remain flooded in Kherson region: 32 on the right bank and 14 on the left bank.
