General Staff: AFU didn’t lose any defensive positions in past day
"The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue carrying out both offensive and defensive operations. In the areas where we hold the defense, not a single position has been lost," Andriy Kovaliov, spokesman for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said during the United News telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
He noted that offensive operations continue in Melitopol and Berdiansk directions. Over the past day, the Ukrainian military had partial success in the directions of Novodarivka, Pryiutne, Makarivka, Rivnopil, Novodanylivka, and Robotyne. They gain a foothold on the achieved frontiers.
Meanwhile, according to Kovaliov, the enemy focuses its main efforts on holding defense and preventing the advance of Ukrainian troops, using reserves, and trying to regain lost positions.
According to the General Staff spokesman, the Ukrainian troops continue to restrain the advance of Russian troops in Bakhmut, Kupyansk, and Lyman directions. Particularly heavy fighting continues in Lyman direction, in the area of Yampolivka, Torske, Hryhorivka, Spirne settlements, west of Dibrova, Donetsk region. The defense forces courageously hold the defense and inflict significant losses on the enemy in terms of manpower and equipment, Kovaliov said.
As reported, fierce fighting continues in the east of Ukraine, 45 combat engagements took place in the past 24 hours.
