About 20 settlements remain flooded in Kherson region

In Kherson region, 20 settlements remain flooded after the Russians blew up the Kakhovka HPP, 17 of them in the temporarily occupied territory.

The State Emergency Service said this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"As of the morning of June 21, there is a gradual decrease in the water level, which is currently at the level of 0.25 m (since the beginning of the day the level has decreased by 1 cm)," the statement reads.

Three settlements (595 houses) on the right bank of the Dnipro River are flooded. There are 17 settlements on the temporarily occupied territory.

Over the past day, rescuers pumped out more than 18.3 thousand tons of water from 223 basements and houses. Since the beginning of the work, more than 182.3 thousand tons have been removed from 795 houses and basements. More than 65 tons of water have been delivered to citizens, and 554 tons of water have been delivered since the start of the work.

As Ukrinform reported, rescue operations and evacuation of the population from the flooded areas caused by the undermining of the Kakhovka HPP dam, which was carried out by Russian troops on the night of June 6, continue in the Kherson region. The death toll is currently 21 people, including 5 citizens who were killed by targeted shots from Russians.
