Ukrainian Forces advance another kilometer in Melitopol and Berdiansk directions
The spokesman for the joint press center of the Defense Forces of the Tavria direction Valerii Shershen said this on the air of the national telethon "United News", Ukrinform reports.
"Defense forces in the Tavria direction continue to conduct offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions. We also have to implement defense plans in our area of responsibility. We are planning to advance towards the enemy up to 1 km, we are talking about tactical level measures, the so-called leveling of the front," said the spokesman.
He also said that Russian occupation forces attacked Ukrainian positions in the Tavria direction over the past day 29 times. In addition, they made 574 attacks using tanks, multiple rocket launchers and cannon artillery. The enemy attacked most frequently and intensively in Donetsk region near Avdiivka and Mariinka, and after receiving a decent response, retreated, emphasized Shershen.
According to the spokesman, the Defense Forces did not lose their positions.
Shershen also informed that over the past day, missile and artillery units of the Tavria direction of the Defense Forces carried out 1,212 fire missions and destroyed enemy targets.
"Last night, the Tavria direction air defense units destroyed two air targets - Orlan10 and ZALA UAVs. Estimated enemy losses over the day: 129 occupiers were killed, 236 occupiers were wounded, five were captured," said the spokesman.
According to him, the prisoners talk about the occupiers' fear of the effectiveness of Western weapons and the skillful use of them by Ukrainians.
"Last night alone, a counter-battery radar system Zoopark-1, a Pole-21 electronic warfare system, one tank and four infantry fighting vehicles were destroyed. Yesterday the enemy lost 1 unit of 2S9 Nona, and we would like to highlight that our units captured a T-80 tank. This is a very valuable trophy and now it will benefit the Armed Forces of Ukraine," noted Shershen.
As Ukrinform reported, on June 20, the Russian army's losses in the Tavria direction amounted to more than 280 occupiers and 68 units of weapons and military equipment.
