U.S. seeing no radioactivity elevation around ZNPP - White House
That’s according to John Kirby, the U.S. National Security Council spokesman, who spoke at a Friday briefing at the White House, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"We're continuing to monitor it closely. We are able to monitor some radiation sensors that are around the plant and thus far we've detected no elevated levels of radioactivity," the White House spokesman noted.
He emphasized that the United States continues to closely monitor the developments.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, on Thursday, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine stressed the need for the complete de-occupation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP by Russia. He emphasized that anyone who turned a blind eye to its capture by Russia was actually contributing to terror.
Meanwhile, NAEC Energoatom, Ukraine’s operator of nuclear power facilities, reports a slight decrease in the water level in the NPP’s cooling pond.
