Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyi thanked the Security and Defense Forces for the liberation of Zmiinyi Island from Russian invaders.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine wrote about this on Telegram and posted a video, Ukrinform reports.
"Exactly one year ago, on June 30, the Security and Defense Forces liberated Zmiinyi Island from Russian invaders. I thank everyone who defends Ukraine," Zaluzhnyi emphasized.
As reported, Russian troops seized Zmiinyi Island on the first day of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, February 24, 2022.
On June 30, 2022, the Ukrainian military completely liberated Zmiinyi. The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the escape of its troops, calling it a "gesture of goodwill."
