War update: Ukrainian forces hit 11 enemy artillery systems in firing position
The relevant statement was made by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Over the past day, Russian occupiers have launched another missile and air attack on Ukraine’s territory, using the S-300 guided missiles and Iranian-made Shahed drones. Following the combat performance of the air defense units of Ukraine’s Defense Forces, five loitering munitions were destroyed,” the report states.
Meanwhile, some enemy drones struck industrial and infrastructure objects in the Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovohrad regions.
Russian troops also launched 52 air strikes and opened fire with multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) about 60 times. In particular, eight civilians were killed and 13 injured in Russia’s shelling of the Donetsk region’s Lyman.
The threat of Russian missile and air strikes is persisting all over Ukraine, according to the General Staff.
Russian invaders are focusing the main efforts on the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. Over 30 combat engagements have occurred there over the past day.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remained rather unchanged.
In the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions, Russian troops launched air strikes near the Sumy region’s Vovkivka; the Kharkiv region’s Milove and Veterynarne. The enemy also attacked over 30 settlements with artillery and mortars.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian occupiers launched air strikes near the Kharkiv region’s Kyslivka and the Luhansk region’s Novoiehorivka. The enemy attempted to carry out offensive actions near the Luhansk region’s Berestove, Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka. Ukrainian defenders were firmly holding defense and repelled all enemy attacks. Russian artillery and mortar strikes affected the Kharkiv region’s Fyholivka, Dvorichna, Kupiansk, Kyslivka and Kamianka.
In the Lyman direction, Russian invaders conducted offensive actions and made unsuccessful attempts to push Ukrainian forces away from their positions near the Donetsk region’s Vesele. The enemy launched air strikes near the Luhansk region’s Novoliubivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka, and the Donetsk region’s Dibrova, Spirne and Ivanivka. Over 15 settlements were affected by Russian artillery strikes.
In the Bakhmut direction, Russian troops launched air strikes near Ivanivske, Druzhkivka, Bila Hora and Druzhba. Over 15 settlements were affected by enemy artillery strikes.
In the Avdiivka direction, Russian occupiers conducted unsuccessful offensive actions near the Donetsk region’s Novokalynove, Stepove, Pervomaiske and Nevelske. The enemy launched air strikes near Avdiivka and Sieverne. Over 15 settlements were affected by Russian artillery strikes.
In the Marinka direction, under enemy artillery strikes, Ukrainian defenders repelled all enemy attacks near the Donetsk region’s Marinka. Russians launched air strikes near the Donetsk region’s Krasnohorivka and Novomykhailivka.
In the Shakhtarske direction, Russian troops conducted unsuccessful offensive actions near the Donetsk region’s Blahodatne. The enemy launched air strikes near the Donetsk region’s Blahodatne and Rivnopil. Over 15 settlements were affected by Russian shelling.
In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, Russian troops are focusing efforts to prevent Ukrainian forces from advancing. The enemy launched air strikes near the Kherson region’s Kozatske and the Zaporizhzhia region’s Orikhiv. Over 20 settlements were affected by Russian artillery strikes.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue conducting the offensive operation in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, gaining foothold within the re-captured frontiers, and carrying out counterbattery measures.
In the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s Air Force has launched seven strikes on enemy personnel clusters. The Ukrainian military also destroyed 10 Russian reconnaissance drones. Ukraine’s missile and artillery units hit 11 Russian artillery systems in firing position, one ammunition depot, three air defense missile systems, and two electronic warfare systems.
