Nineteen Russian soldiers have surrendered in the Tavria direction over the past day.

The relevant statement was made by Spokesperson for the Joint Press Center of Ukraine’s Defense Forces in the Tavria direction Valerii Shershen during a nationwide telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Over the past day, fifteen combat engagements have occurred, and most of them near Marinka. The enemy is suffering significant losses and surrendering. Nineteen persons have surrendered over the past day. Ten prisoners were recorded the day before. This is the first time such a large number of prisoners were taken during summer,” Shershen told.

In his words, this indicates that Russian troops have low morale and feel demotivated.

According to Shershen, Ukrainian forces are holding active defense near Marinka and Avdiivka, and do not allow enemy troops to seize Marinka.

“Their objective has remained unchanged – to seize Marinka. But, we are repelling attacks and holding positions,” Shershen noted.

A reminder that, according to Spokesperson for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andrii Kovaliov, Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue offensive actions in the Melitopol, Berdiansk and Bakhmut directions.
