Port and critical infrastructure hit in Russian missile and drone attack in southern Ukraine
Ukraine's Operational Command South said this in a post on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
"At night, the enraged enemy hit southern Ukraine with a powerful accumulation of missiles and kamikaze drones," the Command said, adding that Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 12 of 12 Kalibr missiles fired from the Sevastopol bay.
Also overnight, the invaders used a coastal missile system in temporarily occupied Crimea and hit Odesa with Oniks missiles and strategic bombers fired Kh-59 and Kh-22 missiles. Simultaneously with the missile attack, the Russians launched Shahed-136 one-way attack drones in the south.
The Kh-59 missile was shot down as it approached the coast and fell in a residential area of Odesa, leaving a large crater, with several buildings damaged by the blast wave. Three civilians were injured.
The Oniks and Kh-22 missiles targeted the port and critical infrastructure. The enemy hit a grain and oil terminal, damaging reservoirs and loading equipment. A fire started, and all competent services were working to eliminate the consequences. There was no information about casualties.
"In the Odesa region, an industrial facility was hit, where a civilian employee was injured, and two warehouses in different locations were hit - with tobacco and fireworks," the Operational Command South said
Eight Shahed-136 drones were shot down in the sky over the Odesa region and two more over the Mykolaiv region. Recreational infrastructure facilities in the coastal zone of the Kobleve community were damaged by drone debris and caught fire. Two civilians were injured.
Also, due to combat work to destroy missiles and drones, several apartment buildings were damaged in residential areas in Odesa by the blast wave.
"At least six Odesa residents, including a nine-year-old boy, who sustained injuries from broken glass and other objects, sought medical help," the report said.
In Kherson, the enemy hit the Palace of Culture with Shakhed drones and damaged a dormitory. One civilian was injured.
