Almost 700 people killed and injured by landmines in Ukraine
"Unfortunately, 221 people have been killed and more than 450 people have been injured by landmines and explosive devices since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion," Oleksandr Horunzhyi, spokesman for the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, told a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine–Ukrinform.
He urged Ukrainians to immediately call 101 if they discover an explosive object. He also does not advise residents of the de-occupied territories to go to water bodies, fields, forests, as well as untrodden paths.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the bomb technicians of the State Emergency Service have neutralized 3,49 air bombs.
During this time, experts have surveyed 91,401 ha of land. Demining works are mainly ongoing in the de-occupied areas of Donetsk, Mykolayiv, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions.
Priority is given to infrastructure facilities, power lines, and gas pipelines so that "people in the de-occupied territories feel more comfortable having water, gas and electricity," Khorunzhyi noted.
