Vereshchuk: More than 30 children taken out of dangerous settlements in Kharkiv region
"A total of 194 children lived in dangerous areas in Kharkiv region. We know them all, we understand that the settlements where they live are subject to merciless enemy shelling. We strive to take the children out so that they do not suffer from this. To date, we managed to take out more than 30 children in a few days," Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk told Ukrinform in a comment.
She noted that the state assumes responsibility for financing the evacuation of children with their parents, one of their parents, or with a legal representative and further accommodation. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, parents are afraid to evacuate, because they do not know whether they will be able to financially provide for their children in a new place. "Financial uncertainty keeps people at home. Our task is to recommend and provide everyone with what they need," Vereshchuk added.
At the same time, she said that the forced evacuation of children would take place from seven settlements in Donetsk region. "About 200 children stay there," she specified.
In addition, Vereshchuk emphasized that after forced evacuation, children cannot return to the settlements where they used to live as this is a zone of active hostilities or intensified enemy shelling.
As reported, on July 17, the forced evacuation of children from ten settlements of Vovchansk territorial community of Chuhuiv district, where active enemy shelling takes place, was announced.
