War update: 32 combat engagements occur in five directions

The relevant statement was made by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

On the night of July 21, 2023, Russia launched another missile attack against Ukraine’s territory. Information about the consequences is yet to be checked.

Over the past day, Russian occupiers have fired three Kalibr-type sea-launched cruise missiles, five Iskander-K surface-launched cruise missiles, four Kh-22 cruise missiles, seven Oniks cruise missiles, and 19 Shahed-type loitering munitions at Ukraine’s territory.

Following the combat performance of Ukraine’s air defense units, two Russian Kalibr missiles, three Iskander-K missiles, and 13 Shahed drones were destroyed.

Additionally, Russian troops launched 49 air strikes and opened fire with multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) 72 times. Following Russian terrorist attacks, casualties among civilians were reported, as well as the damage caused to industrial objects, residential houses and other infrastructure.

The threat of Russian missile and air strikes is persisting all over Ukraine, according to the General Staff.

In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remained rather unchanged. No enemy offensive groupings were detected.

In the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions, Russian troops are maintaining military presence. The enemy launched air strikes near the Chernihiv region’s Semenivka and Novhorod-Siverskyi; the Sumy region’s Hrabovske; and the city of Sumy. Over 25 settlements were affected by Russian mortar and artillery strikes in the Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv regions.

In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian warriors are firmly holding defense and successfully repelled enemy attacks to the southwest of the Kharkiv region’s Masiutivka. Russians launched artillery and mortar strikes on the Kharkiv region’s Dvorichna, Zapadne, Fyholivka, Kamianka, Krasne Pershe, Kupiansk, Kucherivka, Monachynivka and Topoli.

In the Lyman direction, Russian artillery strikes affected the Luhansk region’s Nevske and Bilohorivka; the Donetsk region’s Torske, Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, Berestove, Kyslivka and Rozdolivka.

In the Bakhmut direction, under extensive enemy artillery fire, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled Russian attacks on the southwestern outskirts of Klishchiivka. Over 10 settlements were affected by Russian artillery strikes.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian warriors repelled enemy attacks near Nevelske. Over 10 settlements were affected by Russian artillery strikes.

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian forces continue holding back Russia’s onslaught near the Donetsk region’s Novomykhailivka and Marinka. The enemy launched air strikes near Oleksandropol and Novomykhailivka. Over 15 settlements were affected by Russian shelling.

In the Shakhtarske direction, Russians launched air strikes near Zolota Nyva, Vuhledar, Storozhove, Blahodatne and Makarivka. The enemy shelling affected Velyka Novosilka, Vuhledar, Vodiane, Blahodatne and Odradne.

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, Russian troops are focusing efforts to prevent Ukrainian forces from advancing. Russians made unsuccessful attempts to regain their lost positions to the north of the Zaporizhzhia region’s Pryiutne. The enemy launched air strikes near the Zaporizhzhia region’s Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Yehorivka and Piatykhatky; the Kherson region’s Kozatske. Over 30 settlements were affected by Russian artillery strikes.

In the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue the counteroffensive and are gaining foothold within the re-captured frontiers, attacking the detected enemy targets with artillery, and conducting counterbattery measures.

Over the past day, Ukraine’s Air Force has launched eight strikes on enemy personnel clusters. Ukrainian defenders destroyed one Russian reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Ukraine’s missile and artillery units hit 10 Russian artillery systems in firing position, two air defense missile systems, two electronic warfare systems, and four other important enemy targets.
