Ukraine Army gradually advances in Bakhmut direction by hundreds meters per day
Spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhii Cherevatyi said this on the air of the nationwide telethon "United News", Ukrinform reports.
"In Bakhmut direction, the defense forces continue to hold the initiative and put pressure on the enemy. The enemy is desperately resisting, firing 519 times at our positions, and carrying out one air raid. In total, eight combat engagements took place, during which 74 occupiers were killed, 152 were wounded and one was taken prisoner. An enemy tank, six armored personnel carriers, two Gvozdika self-propelled artillery systems, a D30 howitzer, an Aistenok counter-battery radar and three ammunition depots were also destroyed," Cherevatyi said.
According to him, the enemy is trying to seize the initiative and carry out offensive actions in Lyman-Kupiansk directions.
"A record 908 times our positions were shelled with all types and calibers of artillery, 11 air raids were carried out. So far, 29 combat engagements have taken place, during which 76 occupiers were killed and 158 were wounded. Two tanks, a Msta self-propelled artillery system, two mortars, a howitzer, two unmanned aerial vehicles and a field depot with ammunition were destroyed," the spokesman informed.
He noted that in Bakhmut direction the Defense Forces are conducting a measured and progressive offensive, using various tactical innovations to advance with minimal losses of personnel.
"Every day we liberate hundreds of meters of our land, every week - kilometers, and in time it will be tens of kilometers. That is, this process is measured, steady, but relentless," assured the spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As Ukrinform reported, Ukrainian Defense Forces eliminated about 240,690 Russian aggressors from February 24, 2022, to July 21, 2023, and another 680 people over the past day. In total, 4,133 enemy tanks were destroyed (+4), 8,080 armored combat vehicles (+15), 4610 artillery systems (+18), 692 MLRS (+0), 440 air defense systems (+7), 315 aircraft (+0), and 310 helicopters (+0), UAVs of operational and tactical level - 3,933 (+15), cruise missiles - 1,298 (+5), ships/boats - 18 (+0), vehicles and tankers - 7,145 (+11), special equipment - 686 (+1).
