Russians modernize more than hundred X-22 missiles that hit Odesa - Humeniuk
Natalia Humeniuk, head of the Joint Press Center of the Operational Command 'South', informed this on the air of the telethon 'United News', according to Ukrinform.
"Having a large stockpile of X-22 missiles, they are trying to improve them, because we have seen them being destroyed in the air so far. It is clear that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, they have used a fairly large stockpile of missiles. They were preparing for this process, unlike Ukraine. They were building up their capabilities deliberately, increasing the number in accordance with their strategic plans, and now, as far as I know, we are talking about more than a hundred of these missiles," she said, answering a question about the number of X-32 missiles that were upgraded from X-22.
As reported, at night on July 23, Russian troops launched a massive attack on the territory of Odesa and the region.
The invaders fired 19 missiles of various types. The attack hit the historic center of Odesa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The attack damaged 25 architectural monuments, including the Transfiguration Cathedral.
The X-22 'Burya' missile is a Soviet supersonic long-range air-launched cruise missile. It was designed to destroy aircraft carriers and aircraft carrier strike groups, but in 2022-2023, the X-22 became a weapon of numerous war crimes. In particular, on January 14 this year, an X-22 missile fired from a Russian Tu-22M3 bomber hit a residential building in Dnipro.
