Ukraine’s Defense Forces liberate 35 sq km of land area in Bakhmut sector
The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Defense Deputy Minister Hanna Maliar on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Russian troops continue focusing efforts on the Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. Fierce battles are underway.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russians have been actively conducting assault actions over the past week, trying to push Ukrainian units beyond the barrier frontier of the Oskil River and looking for weak spots in the defense. At the moment, hostilities continue, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine are firmly holding positions.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy’s assault actions were persisting in an attempt to push Ukrainian defenders away near the Serebrianske forestry. Russians conducted unsuccessful offensive actions to the east of the Donetsk region’s Torske. Battles are underway.
In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian forces have been conducting successful offensive actions on the southern flank over the past week. Now, they are gradually but confidently advancing there.
The fiercest battles are raging near Klishchiivka, Andriivka and Kurdiumivka.
“Over the past week, a total of 4 square kilometers has been librated in the Bakhmut sector. In general, since the offensive was launched in that direction, the total de-occupied area has reached 35 square kilometers,” Maliar noted.
In the Avdiivka, Marinka and Shakhtarske directions, Russian troops were focusing efforts to establish full control over Marinka and seize Avdiivka, but had no success.
In southern Ukraine, the Defense Forces continue conducting the offensive in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions.
“Over the past week, following the offensive actions, the de-occupied area in the south has expanded by 12.7 square kilometers. In general, a total of 192.1 square kilometers was liberated in the south,” Maliar added.
A reminder that, between February 24, 2022 and July 24, 2023, Russia’s total combat losses in Ukraine came to about 242,620 troops.
