Ukraine gradually enhancing air defense in Sumy direction – Commander Naiev
The relevant statement was made by the Joint Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
According to Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Serhii Naiev, the country’s air defense depends to some extent on international military and technical assistance.
“Hence, we increase the protection level of critical infrastructure objects within the limits of the resources we receive,” Naiev explained.
In his words, at the moment, the air defense is being gradually enhanced in the Sumy direction. The Joint Forces additionally deployed several fire teams armed with large-caliber machine guns with collimator and thermal imaging sights to work on aerial targets, in particular at night. These teams are also equipped with searchlights.
“Staying at one of the firing positions, I personally observed the work of the crews of these mobile fire teams during the enemy drone attack,” Naiev mentioned, having emphasized that additional aid from Western partners is needed to protect the Ukrainian sky.
A reminder that Russia continues attempts to reveal some weak spots in Ukraine’s defense in the Chernihiv and Sumy directions.
