Fierce battles raging near three settlements in Bakhmut sector
The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Defense Deputy Minister Hanna Maliar on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue holding back the onslaught by Russian troops in the Kupiansk and Lyman directions. There, the enemy is looking for weak spots in our defense, launching artillery strikes, attacking with infantry groups and using special operations units. They are making every effort to push through our defense but in vain. In the above directions, our defenders are taking all measures to stop the enemy,” Maliar told.
In the Bakhmut direction, Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue successful offensive actions on the southern flank around the town of Bakhmut. Fierce battles are raging near such settlements as Klishchiivka, Kurdiumivka and Andriivka.
“The enemy is holding on to each meter of the occupied land, putting up strong resistance, using reserves but, at the same time, suffering significant losses,” Maliar noted.
Commenting on the situation in eastern Ukraine, Maliar mentioned that Ukrainian forces continue conducting the offensive operation in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, and are gradually advancing.
“Near Staromaiorske, battles are underway. Our defenders are succeeding and gaining a foothold within the re-captured frontiers,” Maliar added.
In her words, the enemy is making unsuccessful attempts to regain the lost positions, namely to the northeast of the Zaporizhzhia region’s Robotne.
