War update: 27 combat engagements at the front in past day

This is stated in the morning report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"During the past 24 hours, the aviation of the defense forces launched three strikes on enemy personnel, weapons and military equipment clusters. Over the past day, missile and artillery units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit eight enemy artillery pieces on firing positions, two EW systems, an ammunition depot, and a fuel depot. Twenty-seven combat engagements took place," the report reads.

Over the past day, the Russian Federation launched a missile attack on the city of Dnipro, using two Iskander-M ballistic missiles. In addition, the enemy launched 11 airstrikes and 38 MLRS attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated settlements. Unfortunately, civilian casualties were reported, residential buildings, other civilian and administrative infrastructure objects were destroyed.

In Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly. There were no signs of the formation of offensive groups.

In Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna directions, the enemy launched airstrikes in the areas of Halahanivka and Leonivka in Chernihiv region; Iskryskivshchyna and Volfyne in Sumy region. Mortars and artillery were fired at more than 20 settlements, in particular Ivashky, Huryiv Kozachok, Udy, Strilecha, Zelene, and Okhrimivka in Kharkiv region.

In Kupyansk direction, the enemy launched an air strike near Druzheliubivka in Kharkiv region. Kolodiazne, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Synkivka, Kyslivka in Kharkiv region came under enemy artillery and mortar attacks.

In Lyman direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive operations in the areas of Serebryansky forest and Bilohorivka, Luhansk region. An airstrike was launched in the area of Hryhorivka in Donetsk region. The settlements of Nevske, Bilohorivka in Luhansk region; Torske, Verkhniokamyanske, Spirne in Donetsk region were hit with artillery.

In Bakhmut direction, more than 15 settlements came under enemy artillery fire, including Minkivka, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Predtechyne, and Bila Hora in Donetsk region.

In Avdiyivka direction, the enemy launched an air strike near Avdiyivka. More than 10 settlements, including Avdyiivka, Pervomayske, Karlivka in Donetsk region, were hit with artillery.

In Maryinka direction, the defense forces continue to hold back the advance of Russian troops in the area of Maryinka. The enemy shelled more than 10 settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Novomykhaylivka, Pobieda, and Heorhiyivka in Donetsk region.

In Shakhtarske direction, the occupiers shelled the settlements of Odradne, Blahodatne, Makarivka, Zelene Pole, Novodarivka in Donetsk region.

In Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the enemy focuses its main efforts on preventing the further advance of Ukrainian troops. More than 25 settlements, including Chervone, Huliaypole, Charivne, Novoandriyivka, Stepove in Zaporizhzhia region; Zolota Balka, Mykhaylivka, Kozatske, Tiahynka, Ivanivka, Sadove in Kherson region were hit with artillery.

The Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to go on an offensive operation in Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, gain a foothold on the reached boundaries, fire artillery on identified enemy targets, and carry out counter-battery fight.

The military also reports that forced passportization of Ukrainian citizens is ongoing in the temporarily occupied territories.

"In order to increase the moral pressure on the residents of the temporarily occupied Horlivka, Donetsk region, and to force them to obtain Russian citizenship, the occupiers sent orders to local enterprises of all forms of ownership to submit to the so-called ‘Ministry of State Security of the DPR’ lists of employees who did not receive a Russian passport," the report says.

The deadline for order implementation is January 1, 2024. At the same time, the occupation administration of Blahovishchenka settlement, Zaporizhzhia region, takes measures to encourage local residents to get Russian citizenship, in particular, offering pensioners a cash reward of RUB 50,000.
