Offensive continues in Berdiansk, Melitopol directions. AFU moving forward near Avdiyivka
"In our area of responsibility, a defensive operation is currently underway in Avdiyivka and Maryinka directions. An offensive operation is also ongoing in Berdiansk and Melitopol directions. Fierce battles continue, the enemy is constantly trying to attack in Avdiyivka direction, 14 assaults were carried over the past day. We have certain advances in the offensive direction, our defense forces are confidently moving forward," Seriy Kuzmin, the deputy commander of the Tavria operational-strategic group of troops for strategic communications, said during the United News telethon.
He confirmed that the defense forces were moving forward in Avdiyivka sector.
Answering the question of how the destruction of ammunition depots affects the activity of the Russians, Kuzmin noted: "Six such field depots were destroyed today. This, of course, disrupts their logistical approaches, it becomes more difficult for them to provide their units with weapons and military equipment, so this is a positive dynamic and we are purposefully doing this job."
He added that the Russians had an ammunition shortage, so the enemy was trying to redeploy its resources from other directions, including Crimea. At the same time, the destruction of the railway bridge and damage to the road crossing significantly complicated the enemy's task.
Kuzmin also noted that the Ukrainian military was constantly making efforts to demine the territories, but there is a lack of appropriate equipment to carry out these works.
He added that the occupiers were constantly replenishing their reserves in Tavria direction.
"They keep trying to replenish their lost reserves, the occupiers withdraw units from other directions. There are about 150,000 Russians in our direction, there are several armies — 35th, 36th, 5th, 58th combined arms armies. There are a lot of them still," Kuzmin emphasized.
He also noted that the defense forces lacked aviation, air defense systems, and demining equipment for more active advance.
However, according to Kuzmin, the enemy losses about two to three companies a day.
"In our direction over the past day, if we take the sanitary losses of the occupiers, it is 178 people, we took three soldiers captive, and their irreversible losses are about 129 people. Their losses are significant, in fact, the enemy loses two to three companies every day in our direction," he said.
