Joint Forces Commander Nayev visits positions of border guards in Chernihiv region
The press service of the Joint Forces Command reported this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
Nayev inspected the state and conditions of service by the border guards and discussed with the command staff the situation at the state border and the interaction between units of law enforcement agencies that are part of Ukraine's defense forces.
The commander also presented the awards "For Service and Valor" to four soldiers who, as part of a border unit, discovered an enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group on the state border with Russia, opened fire on them and forced them to retreat.
According to the statement, on that day, the Russians first shelled a border strip with automatic grenade launchers. Likely expecting that no one survived after heavy shelling, they set out to break through the border. They acted in a competent and organized manner, moving in "twos" at a distance from each other.
Having allowed the first pair of saboteurs to cover several dozen meters, the border guards opened fire first on the front group, and then on the remaining group. The battle did not last long. Having received resistance, the Russians gathered and retreated in the opposite direction under the cover of grenade launchers.
In general, in July of this year, according to Nayev, in the Chernihiv and Sumy sectors, Ukraine's defense forces managed to thwart four attempts by enemy saboteurs to penetrate into Ukrainian territory.
To prevent successful actions of the enemy, a system of measures is in place, in which units of the State Border Guard Service, the Armed Forces, Special Operations Forces, the National Guard, the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine are involved.
Coordination and management is carried out from a single military command center. If necessary, countersubversive measures can be strengthened by the use of gun artillery, mortars and small arms.
