War update: 50 combat clashes in past day

That’s according to a morning update by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

"In the past 24 hours, the enemy launched 30 missile and 52 air strikes, as well as 75 attacks involving MLR systems, on the positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are civilian deaths and casualties. Residential buildings and other civil infrastructure were affected," the statement reads.

The likelihood of Russia launching more missile and air strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine remains high, warns the General Staff.

Fifty combat engagements were reported in the past day.

On the Volyn and Polissia axes, the operational situation has not changed significantly.

On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes, the enemy went for mortar and artillery attacks on over 35 settlements, including Buchky, Hremiach, and Vesele in Chernihiv region; Seredyna-Buda, Sydorivka, Studenok, Basivka, and Velyka Pysarivka in Sumy region; and Huryiv Kozachok, Strelecha, Hatyshche, Potykhonove, Odradne, and Bolohivka in Kharkiv region.

In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian soldiers are firmly holding their defense lines, having successfully repulsed enemy attacks in the area east of Petropavlivka, Kharkiv region. The Russians carried out airstrikes in the Petropavlivka and Podoly districts of Kharkiv region. More than 10 settlements, including Fiholivka, Dvorichna, Kindrashivka, Kucherivka, Kupiansk, and Kislivka of Kharkiv region were hit by enemy artillery and mortar fire.

On the Lyman axis, enemy airstrikes targeted the areas of Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, and Spirne and Rozdolivka, Donetsk region. The settlements of Kuzmine and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region, and Torske, Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, Berestove, and Rozdolivka in Donetsk region were hit by enemy artillery.

In the direction of Bakhmut, defense forces are restraining the enemy in the area northeast of Diliivka. Over 15 settlements, including Vasiukivka, Bohdanivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, and Severne of Donetsk region, were affected by enemy artillery shelling.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukraine’s defenders successfully repelled attacks by Russian troops in the Avdiivka area under heavy fire from the enemy's aircraft and artillery. Avdiivka and Pervomaiske in Donetsk region were hit by artillery.

In the Marinka direction, Ukraine’s defense forces are holding back the advance of Russian troops in the areas of Marinka and Krasnohorivka. Near the latter, the enemy launched an air strike. Krasnohorivka, Maksymilianivka, Heorhiivka, Pobieda, and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk region were affected by artillery fire.

On the Shakhtarske axis, the enemy launched an air strike in the Staromayorske area. Vodiane, Vuhledar, Vidradne, Blahodatne and Rivnopil in Donetsk region were hit by artillery fire.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Russians ran unsuccessful offensive operations in the Robotyne district and carried out airstrikes in the areas of Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, and Orikhiv. Over 15 settlements were subjected to artillery fire, including Levadne, Chervone, Zaliznychne, Pavlivka, Pyatykhatky, and Kamianske in Zaporizhia region, as well as Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk region.

On the Kherson axis, the enemy launched an airstrike in the Olhivka area. More than 20 settlements, including Mykhailivka, Respublikanets, Lvove, Dniprovske, Veletenske, and Novodmytrivka were hit by enemy artillery.

According to the General Staff, the enemy continues to suffer heavy losses, trying to conceal them from general public. In the temporarily captured settlement of Chaplinka, Kherson region, two trucks loaded with the bodies of Russian soldiers arrived in a local morgue from the Kherson direction. The bodies were then buried in two locations.

"Over the past day, the air force of the defense forces have delivered 10 strikes on enemy manpower clusters and four - on the invaders' anti-aircraft missile systems. During the day, missile and artillery units hit two command and control points, two manpower clusters, two artillery systems in firing positions, and an e-warfare system," the report concluded.

As reported earlier, the General Staff says since February 24, 2022, Ukraine’s Defense Forces have eliminated 249,700 Russian invaders.
