Death toll in Russian missile attack on Pokrovsk rises to five

The number of people killed in the Russian missile attack on Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, has risen to five.

"Five killed and 18 injured – the consequences of two strikes on a residential building in Pokrovsk. As of 21:20, four civilians were killed and three civilians were injured as a result of the first strike. During repeated strike, the deputy chief of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Donetsk region was killed," Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko posted on Telegram.

He added that four rescuers, eight police officers, and three civilians were injured. "Our heroes were the first to arrive at the site of the attack to help people," the minister said.

Klymenko added that search and rescue operations were ongoing: "We are clearing rubble, rescuing people from Russian terror."

Soon, the minister reported that the number of injured people had increased to 31. Nineteen police officers, five rescuers of the State Emergency Service, and one child are among them.

The Russians might use Iskander missiles to launch the attack.

"Around 19:15 on August 7, 2023, the Russian army, probably using Iskander missiles, fired at a residential building in the city of Pokrovsk. According to preliminary data, five people were killed as a result of hitting a five-story building...", the Prosecutor General’s Office posted on Telegram.

Under the procedural leadership of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation was launched into the violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code).

 As reported, the Russians hit a residential building in Pokrovsk, Donetsk region with missiles.
