Injury toll in Russian missile attack on Pokrovsk rises to 88

The number of people injured in a Russian missile attack on the eastern Ukrainian town of Pokrovsk has increased to 88.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, the head of the Donetsk regional military administration, announced this on Ukrainian television, Ukrinform reports.

"Eighty-eight people were injured as of 11:00," Kyrylenko said.

According to him, the data is being promptly collected from all hospitals where the victims were taken. Those seriously wounded are being sent to medical facilities in the neighboring region. In particular, two police officers and an employee of the State Emergency Service are in serious condition, with doctors fighting for their lives.

Late on August 7, the Russian army fired two Iskander missiles at the town of Pokrovsk in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region, hitting first a residential high-rise building and then rescuers and law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene.

Seven people were killed in the attack. At least two children and 31 police officers were injured.
