Ukraine's defense forces have successfully repelled Russian attacks in the Bakhmut and Avdiivka sectors, with about 20 combat engagements recorded along the front line on Tuesday, August 8.

According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in a situation update as of 18:00 on Tuesday, August 8.

Throughout the day, the enemy launched three missile strikes, 47 air strikes and launched 55 attacks using MLRS at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, civilian casualties were recorded and residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were ruined.

The probability of the enemy launching further missile and air strikes on targets across Ukraine remains high.

According to the General Staff, Russia continues the illegal integration of the temporarily captured territories of Ukraine into its socio-political space. In the village of Stulneve, Zaporizhzhia region, the occupiers began preparations for campaigning before so-called "elections" in the captured territories on September 10, the single voting day in Russia. Representatives of the United Russia party are expected to arrive to create groups of agitators and informers from among local collaborators.

Over the last 24 hours, Ukrainian aircraft carried out nine strikes on areas where the enemy's personnel, weapons and military equipment were concentrated.

For their part, Ukrainian rocket and artillery units hit two command and control posts, five artillery pieces, an ammunition depot and two electronic warfare stations of the enemy.
