Zelensky: F-16s will definitely fly in Ukrainian sky
The president stated this in his latest address, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
He assured the Ukrainians that the authorities work every day and week to ensure that the sky defenders have more air defense launchers and missiles for them. The president noted that he will continue this work on Thursday.
"I am trying my best to provide greater protection to our sky. Our entire territory needs much more air defense systems than we have now. Step by step, we are turning this ‘much more’ into the specific capabilities of our Air Force, our anti-aircraft capabilities, our mobile fire brigades. We are also preparing more specifics regarding modern fighter jets for our troops: I have no doubt that we will have F-16s in our sky," Zelensky said.
Separately, the head of the Ukrainian state said that after the meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff there was a special conference between the Ukrainian commanders, the head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak, and diplomats with partners regarding the provision of ammunition and equipment to Ukrainian soldiers.
He thanked everyone who helps Ukraine protect people from Russian terror and those who, together with Ukraine, “strives for the complete liberation of our land from the occupiers.”
Zelensky expressed his gratitude to every Ukrainian soldier, every sergeant, officer, and general who bring Ukraine the results the country needs at the front.
"Today, special thanks to the 35th Separate Brigade of Marines and the 55th Separate Artillery Brigade. Well done, warriors, really! Glory to all who fight for Ukraine, for the sake of every one of us! Glory to all who save lives! Glory to Ukraine," the president said.
As reported, on July 21, the spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, Yuriy Ihnat, said that the American F-16 fighter jets can protect Ukrainian skies from Russian aircraft, and can also shoot down enemy missiles and drones at an almost 100% rate.
