General Staff: Defense Forces holding back Russian offensive in two directions

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in its evening update as of 18:00 on August 11, Ukrinform reports.

In the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, the Ukrainian defenders continue to conduct an offensive operation, getting entrenched in the regained positions and engaging in counter-battery fire.

Throughout the day, the Air Force of the Defense Forces launched a strike on the area where the enemy's personnel, weapons and military equipment were concentrated.

For their part, units of the Ukrainian missile forces and artillery hit an enemy Strela anti-aircraft missile system. Also, the Defense Forces destroyed four enemy reconnaissance drones of operational-tactical level.

Throughout the day, the Russian army launched five missile strikes against Ukraine, using four Kh-47 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles and one S-300 missile. Also, the enemy carried out 24 air strikes and about 37 MLRS attacks on the positions of the Defense Forces and populated areas.

As a result of enemy attacks, there are dead and wounded among the civilian population, including children, as well as damage to residential buildings and other infrastructure.

The General Staff stresses that the threat of the enemy launching further missile and air strikes on Ukraine remains high.

In the Avdiivka direction, under heavy fire from the enemy's aircraft and artillery, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the advance of Russian troops in the area of Avdiivka in Donetsk region. The invaders hit more than 10 settlements with artillery strikes, including Oleksandropil, Keramik, Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, and Sieverne of Donetsk region.

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the advance of Russian troops in the area of Marinka in Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements came under enemy artillery attacks, including Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Maksymilianivka, Paraskoviivka, Novomykhailivka, and Yelyzavetivka of Donetsk region. Russian troops launched air strikes on Krasnohorivka, Marinka and Novomykhailivka districts of Donetsk region.

As reported by Ukrinform, one of four enemy Kh-47 missiles were shot down in the sky of Ukraine on August 11.
