Kerch Strait Bridge reflects current situation in Russia - Ukraine’s Navy Command
That’s according to Dmytro Pletenchuk, the spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, who spoke on the air of the national telethon, answering questions about the current condition of the Kerch Strait Bridge that connects mainland Russia with occupied Crimea, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"The bridge generally symbolizes the state of today's Russia. A solid smoke screen," he said.
According to him, the Russians are now so concerned about the further fate of this illegal extension, trying to preserve their symbol of the Crimea occupation and their geopolitical demands, that they are ready to deploy in the Kerch Strait everything they have.
"However, now its motorway part operates in reverse mode due to the damage sustained. The railway part operates on a more or less regular basis as far as we know today. But we cannot say that it works at full capacity," informed Pletenchuk.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky said the bridge illegally erected by Russia across the Kerch Strait should be destroyed, as it is an enemy object built beyond the framework of international law.
On the night of July 17, one of the sections of the Kerch Strait Bridge collapsed following an explosion.
In this regard, the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry quoted their director, Kyrylo Budanov, as saying that the Kerch Strait Bridge is an “unnecessary structure.”
