Up to 10 Russian fighter jets take off along front lines - Ukraine’s Air Force spox
This was stated by Yuriy Ihnat, the spokesman for the Air Force Command, who spoke at the national telethon, Ukrinform reports.
"Now there is aviation activity in the air, our pilots are in action, engaging the enemy, different aircraft are working to hit different objects at different ranges. Accordingly, a considerable number of enemy warplanes is also midair. Now, both drones and up to 10 enemy fighter jets have been spotted over the area from the waters of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov and farther over the occupied territories northward, and they are striking our positions," Ihnat said.
According to the spokesman, Russia’s Il-22 and A-50 planes are also involved, and reconnaissance planes were also spotted in the north.
Ihnat added that overnight Tuesday, the enemy launched an UAV and an IskanderK-type missile.
"This night, air raid alerts went off as the enemy launched several Shahed-type attack UAVs and an IskanderK-type cruise missile. This is a tentative report because the incoming data are being verified," the official said.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, Ihnat said that in order to replace the older warplane fleet, Ukraine needs 128 fighter jets – this number is laid down in the Air Force vision.
